"No Pig On My Fork" is more than a slogan it is a demand for those who understand the importance of eliminating the consumption of toxic foods. As someone comes into the Knowledge of Self addressing personal eating habits and choices are critical; remember you are what you eat. This is experienced in the traditional fast when entering the culture and with continued education about food, its importance, and the repercussions of its misuse. Obviously, scavengers, shellfish, pork products like bacon, ham, chops, ribs, ears, feet, skin, and intestines are direct violations of a righteous dietary law. However, don't disregard the byproducts of the pig. (ex. gelatine, preservatives, and some food coloring additives)

A Few Halal & Kosher Symbols

While consuming meat is not rejected in our culture it is definitely advantageous to source options that are raised and prepped with the highest quality in mind. When doing your grocery shopping you may see foods labeled as "Halal" which is an Arabic term used to classify food as permissible or "Kosher" a Hebrew word that translates to fit or proper. Being knowledgeable about these terms and their associated symbols will be a benefit when choosing between products.


The pig is used in hundreds of different ways from water filters, insulation, rubber, antifreeze, certain plastics, floor waxes, crayons, chalk adhesives, and fertilizer (USDA, 2016). Tallow and lard is fat from pig abdomens cooking and is used in shaving creams, soaps, make-up, and baked goods. It also is used in fabricating insulin for the regulation of diabetes, valves for human heart surgery, suede for shoes and clothing. As you can see that filthy animal is intricately woven into our daily existence. Eating clean means being mindful of what you eat and where it comes from. In advocating that a righteous dietary law be prominent in one's growth and development we are teaching that what we eat is foundational to addressing individual wellness conditions and what is restricted is for your betterment.
